Embark on your legal journey with the CertHE Common Law, a one-year programme tailored for individuals who may not have the traditional qualifications for degree study but demonstrate the maturity and potential for academic success. This programme not only stands as a valuable qualification in its own right but also provides a direct entry route to the second year of the prestigious LLB (Hons) degree offered by the University of London. With the CertHE Common Law, you can achieve an internationally recognised legal qualification without committing to the full LLB (Hons) programme.

November Intake Application Deadline: 3 July 2024 – 1 October 2024

Key Benefit

  • Direct Pathway: Successful completion of the CertHE Common Law grants exemption from the first year of the LLB (Hons) programme, allowing direct entry into the second year (Stage 2) of the degree.

Programme Structure

The CertHE Common Law equivalent to Level 4 of LLB (Hons) comprises four courses:

Course
Legal System and Method (LSM)
Criminal Law
Contract Law
Public Law

Eligibility Criteria

    To be eligible for the CertHE Common Law, you must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older on 1st May/1st November (April session/September session) in the year you register with the University of London.
  • Be admitted to a course of instruction for the CertHE Common Law at a recognised teaching centre of the University of London.

Period of Study

  • The CertHE Common Law can be completed within a minimum of one year and a maximum of five years.

Selection Criteria

  • A student must pass the test and be declared successful in the interview to receive an offer of admission.
