Additionally, many of the UK's top universities recognise the IFP as meeting their entry requirements for certain courses.

Programme Structure

The IFP consists of one compulsory course and three elective courses:

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the IFP, you must:

  • Be aged 17 or over before 31 December in the year of registration.
  • Have passed at least four separate subjects at GCSE or GCE O level, with grades A to C, or the equivalent; OR have passed at least four separate subjects in FA/FSc/I-Com with 50% or better marks.
  • Provide proof of competence in English acceptable to the University.
  • Have been admitted to a full or part-time course of instruction at a recognised teaching centre authorised to teach the IFP.

English Proficiency Requirements

You must provide evidence of:

  • Passing acceptable examinations equivalent to GCSE or GCE ‘O’ level English language at grade C or above; OR
  • Demonstrating fluency in academic English gained through either:
    • Five years at a secondary school where you were taught only in English; OR
    • Passing a test of proficiency in English language at the appropriate level from an organisation acceptable to the University within the past three years.

Selection Criteria

  • A student must pass the test and be declared successful in the interview to receive an offer of admission.

Assessment

  • Examinations are held once a year, in late April.
  • Each course on the IFP requires a two-hour examination.
  • Regular class attendance is mandatory to sit for exams.
